Rough Theater, Act II

Studio project at UC Berkeley

(Sp 05, Faculty: Richard Fernau)

This project was an outgrowth of the other Rough Theater project and focused on developing the idea of making a seemingly unattractive place the a setting for performance.

I looked at life itself as performance and integrated a variety of activities into an (unattractive) parking garage in Berkeley, CA. The new facility features a pool, parking, a park through a variety of interior and exterior spaces. This puts many facets of everyday life on display to people using the parking garage and redefines performance to include many often-ignored everyday experiences..
