The McDonald's Project

The CEPA Gallery, Buffalo NY

(Fall 2001, Curator Lisa Fischman)

The McDonald's Project was part of a themed group show titled "Paradise in Search of a Future."

Branching out from the central theme of travel and tourism in the contemporary age, this project questions the relevancy of travel when the same meal can be consumed anywhere in the world.

Consiting of one photo and one hamburger from each McDonald's location in the Buffalo area, this installation documents a banal culinary tour of the region. The monotony of the photographs further reinforces this sense of placelessness by erasing any vestige of context outside the branded corporate image of McDonald's.
